Milia are milky spots that form because of fat deposits and usually where your skin can’t breathe and where excess oils become trapped.

Some people are genetically prone to developing these spots but they are most often caused by the use of skincare products and cosmetics that contain heavy oils, particularly mineral oil or lanolin.

Milia has also been linked to a high cholesterol diet or excessive Vitamin C intake. We use Advanced Electrolysis for our milia removal treatment, which is the most effective method to remove the milia safely and quickly.

After your treatment, we will give you the best aftercare guidelines to ensure full recovery of the areas.

For 2-3 days after milia removal, bathe the area in cool water only. Avoid the use of perfumed products on the skin e.g. Soap, cleansers, moisturizers, etc.

Each time the area is bathed, apply a small amount of Aloe Vera gel to soothe the skin and aid the healing process. DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH.

How does a Milia Removal treatment feel?
During the treatment, there will be a mild sensation similar to a stinging nettle on the skin when the Milia is cauterized. There might be residual stinging for a few minutes after treatment.
Who is NOT suitable for milia removal?
You will not be suitable for this procedure if you have any of the following:

  • Hepatitis B
  • Blood disorders (Haemophilia)
  • Heart conditions, especially when taking blood thinners such as warfarin
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Keloid scarring
  • Epilepsy
How many treatments are required?
A single session is sufficient in most cases to remove Milia. Our prices are based on a 20-30 minute session so multiple Milia can be removed in one sitting.

If another treatment is required we recommend session intervals to be two weeks to ensure that the areas treated have healed well.
